CAPC hosted two “Let’s Talk” events in Castroville and Alisal, reaching nearly 300 community members. These family-focused, bilingual gatherings provided information, support, and resources centered on child well-being.

CAPC participated in Soledad’s “Day of the Child Event” promoting positive parenting strategies for over 100 Spanish speaking families.
More than 1,000 custom coffee sleeves with child abuse prevention messaging were distributed through local coffee shops across the county, helping spread awareness with every cup.
CAPC’s partners at Victim Witness held their annual honoring event for families who lost loved ones to violence, providing a space for remembrance, support, and healing.
CAPC participated in the Stand Down for Veteran Families event, marking the first time the event formally included families. This effort expanded outreach to an often under-served population.
The mindfulness book “Breathe Like a Bear / Respira Como un Oso” was a highlight at all April events. Families—especially Spanish-speaking parents—were thrilled to receive a copy. Special thanks went to First 5 Monterey County for identifying and recommending this valuable resource.

CAPC also coordinated the purchase and distribution of car seats and playpens, continuing its commitment to the physical safety and well-being of children in Monterey County.
In partnership with MCOE, we launched an educational video, Behind the Screen: Dangers in the Digital Age. This is a community project around the dangers of online activity and access. Over a dozen community members discussed online risk and safety. An English version and a Spanish version were completed and are accessible here.
For 2025 Monterey County chose the topic of Safe Sleeping for the annual Spanish and English Public Service Announcement. In the USA approximately 76% of 0-4 month old infant deaths are associated with unsafe sleeping environments. These PSAs were run locally by KION, Telemundo and can be viewed here.

At the close of Child Abuse Prevention Month, CAPC and the Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) co-hosted the Safe Schools & CAPC Leadership Awards Breakfast. The event honored individuals and teams working tirelessly to keep children and families safe and thriving.
